When one delivers a sermon, he, like the Old Testament prophets, stands to speak to people on behalf of God. Such a responsibility cannot be taken lightly. When writing to Timothy, Paul put that responsibility in these words: "I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching" (2 Tm 4:1-2, English Standard Version).  Every effort has been made to fulfill that God-given responsibility in each sermon on these pages.

While preachers must take their work very seriously, preachers also need to view sermon delivery with great honor and joy. What an honor preachers have each week to proclaim a sermon containing the very words of God! "We have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us" (2 Cor 4:7, English Standard Version). What good have we preachers done that we should speak of God's greatness? Each sermon on this site, therefore, has been proclaimed with great humility and great honor.

Some Notes

Scripture quotations from my newer sermons are taken from the English Standard Version (ESV). Older sermons use the Revised Standard, New King James, or New International Versions.

Some of the sermons have been scanned from paper copies, thus impairing the visual quality of the sermon. However, I am currently in the process of using OCR to convert them to text.

Some of the sermon may have typographical errors I failed to find in proofing them. Sometimes, my brain is working faster than my fingers & there is more than one way I'd like to express an idea. Thus, I sometimes find the beginning of one thought & the completion of another. I am aware of this, and I'm working to correct the issue.
